When my great-grandparents arrived from Russia, they were sent to Carlos Casares, in the province of Buenos Aires. There they received a house and a plot of land from Baron Hirsch's foundation. Today the two Jewish colonies in the area (Moctezuma and Colonia Hirsch) are totally uninhabited. Its old houses are on the verge of collapse. Which of those windows would my grandmother Adela Noremberg have looked out of to see the countryside around her?
